Amy was my partner in crime and we devised a plan. We got those wonderful little pumpkins at Hobby Lobby at 90% off, so we painted them and then glittered them to fit more with our theme. They were bright neon orange before. We got the vase covers at Pottery Barn as well as the napkin holder/party favor which is an ornament for the tree. I just love the look of birch with all that texture. The arangement contents mostly came from Pier One, except for the little birds hanging on them and those came from Target. (make sure to say in a French accent). The studio does not have a kitchen so washing dishes is a bit difficult. I was able to find disposable plates and silverware at Costco that looks like china and real silver. Isn't that awesome?!
The crew at Pier One let us do a little experiment to see if the fake candles or real candles gave off more light. So, we tromped off to the bathroom with both real and fake votives. And Amy and I turned off the light and stood there checking to see which one was brighter. The winner was the fake votives!! The main reason is because the wick was longer. The actual party was at 5:30, so it was dark and lovely with lights from a string of lights, dangling ornament balls and votives on the table. The ambiance was wonderful. I just wish all our family could have been there. We missed you guys!
I am very thankful this Thanksgiving for a healthy, wonderful family, a job that lets me be creative everyday and for all the wonderful people in my life. But I have been trying to be thankful for the little things, too. Like snuggly blankets, and I just found the wonder and delight of pomegranates (they are wonderful!) and the ability to video my family with my cell phone. I could go on and on, but instead I will just share my pics.
